# Consensus Algorithm

ZOKA's public network uses RandomX proof-of-work.

The canonical algorithm ID in the codebase is:

```
zoka-randomx-v1
```

Nodes validate block structure, proof-of-work, reward amount, private transaction commitments, nullifiers, and other consensus rules before accepting blocks.

## What Consensus Checks

Consensus validation is not only a hash check. A node must also protect the ledger rules around:

* Chain ID and network configuration.
* Block reward and emission cap.
* Proof-of-work algorithm identity.
* Cumulative work and fork choice.
* Private transaction hash commitments.
* Nullifier uniqueness for double-spend prevention.
* Private fee claim structure where applicable.

Development or CI fallback mining modes are not the public-network consensus backend. Public network builds should use the RandomX feature path.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://zokanetwork.gitbook.io/zokanetwork/mining/consensus-algorithm.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
